The Gospel of Barnabas

Reference : 9780954635718

The Gospel of Barnabas… an apocryphal gospel which, understandably, upsets the foundations of the Christian West. It comes indeed from the one whom Jesus, among his disciples, consider as his confidant, asking him to take note of his words and to testify both to his message and to his deeds and gestures.

The Gospel of Barnabas , Prologue by Professor Omar Amin C. Mutti - Introduction and Translation from English by Tahir de La Nive

The Gospel of Barnabas… an apocryphal gospel which, understandably, upsets the foundations of the Christian West. It comes indeed from the one whom Jesus, among his disciples, consider as his confidant, asking him to take note of his words and to testify both to his message and to his deeds and gestures.

Vehemently, the Galilean son of Mary defends himself against what he considers to be the worst idolatry, in particular his deification or even his designation as “son of God”; in short, of everything that will constitute the very essence of Christianity, more precisely of Pauline neo-Christianity .

In the same logic, Barnabas also gives us the key to the enigma concerning the death and resurrection of his master, not crucified but kidnapped, put out of reach of his executioners by the divine hand.

Finally and above all, Jesus announces the coming of the one who will come to restore both the truth about him and the purity of the divine doctrine as a whole: A man of the line of Ishmael, the Arab Mohammed.
