Among the wonders of our civilization - Dr Mustafâ As-Sibâ'î

Here is a book that we have wanted to translate for some time, not only because of its content, but also because of the personality of its author, Dr. Mustafâ As-sibâ'Î. In this book, the author has not defined the Islamic civilization as such, nor what the Arab-Muslim world is like the famous historian F.Braudel did in his book: "Grammaire des Civilizations ".

Moreover, this book and that of Mustafâ As-Sibâ'î have the particularity of having been written, both at about the same time, namely towards the end of the fifties/beginning of the sixties. Our author did not set out, either, to draw up a historical and comparative table between the various civilizations.

In fact, Mustafâ As-Sibâ'î preferred to give us an overview of the contributions of the Arab-Muslim civilization in various fields and sometimes even very different from each other. In their time, these contributions were considered innovative, even anachronistic, so much did they go against the mores of the time, but also the habits and customs of the peoples concerned. These contributions were so rich that they gave rise to a new civilization to which Gustave Le Bon gave the title to one of his books: “La Civilization des Arabes. »
