Manifestation of Truth – Islamic-Christian Debates, by Rahmatoullah Al Hindi

Of the divinity of Christ, of the alterations in the gospels, of the trinity of the message of Muhammad (sws)

The author was born in New Delhi (India) in 1817, from a noble family, he received his first training by members of his family, then in the Islamic schools of India. After his studies he taught in the school he founded in Kirana.

At the same time Great Britain settled in India. The Christian emissaries were intensely active in evangelizing India. Benefiting from the extensive logistics of the British Royal Army. Faced with this situation, Sheikh Rahmatoullah resisted by all means, traveling through India organizing conferences and debates. The most famous of his debates was that which he had with Pastor Pfander; They had to debate in several stages on four subjects: Alterations in the Gospels, the divinity of Christ, the trinity and the message of Mohamed (sws).

This debate was to take place in front of a large public gathering in the presence of the British authorities as well as journalists and various religious representatives. The debate was all the more important as it was accompanied by an important condition, thus the one who would find himself short of argument having to convert to the religion of his adversary. But to everyone's surprise, after the debate on the first two points, Pastor Pfander left India. The media then reported on this great triumph of the Sheikh, this gave her great notoriety, and the English reacted to this by embarrassing her in her actions and movements. So Sheikh Rahmatoullah went underground and organized resistance cells and a bounty was put on his head. He managed to escape by reaching Mecca.

As for Pastor Pfander, he settled in Turkey, telling a false version of the outcome of the debates: Rahmatoullah is defeated, and all the Muslims of India have converted to Christianity. The Ottoman sultan, worried by the effect of these rumors on the population, sent to seek the truth from the Indian pilgrims of Mecca. Informed of the presence of the Sheikh in the Holy Place, he invites him to Turkey. The pastor left Turkey as soon as the Sheikh arrived. The sultan proposed to Rahmatoullah to write a treatise relating their debates and which would make a response to the missionaries who crisscrossed the Muslim world, the sheikh got down to it and after six months this book: "idhhârou-l-haq: Manifestation of the truth”, was born.
