Consulted more than three million times on the internet, the initial version of the Open Letter to the Muslim World was written by one of the most recognized Islamic thinkers in the field. Here is an expanded version, written with the critical mind of the philosopher and the heart of an enlightened Muslim.
Faced with murderous jihadism, the consciences of the Muslim world were indignant: "not in my name", they shouted to refuse the confusion between the barbarism of this Islamism and the civilization of Islam. But is this outrage enough? Shouldn't the Muslim world also question itself? That he wonders why the terrorist monster chose to steal his face rather than another? Is it really a coincidence that barbarism has arisen this time in human history on the side of an Islam in the grip of a deep crisis, open since the Arab Springs of 2011, and which bears precisely on the place in the society of a religion that jihadism would like to be totalitarian?
