The Great Book of the Interpretation of Dreams - according to Muslim tradition (Ibn Sîrîn)

Despite its age, Ibn Sîrîn's treatise on oneiromancy is still relevant: the text is regularly published, sometimes compared with another work, no less famous, the treatise of Nabulsî. This is the case of Sayd Ibrahim's edition where the symbols of the two works are presented in alphabetical order.

Ibn Sîrîn is undoubtedly the greatest Muslim oneiromancer, not only in the Arabic-speaking world but also in the rest of the Muslim world. His reputation will extend to Europe. In the 18th century. a French ecclesiastic, the Abbé Richard, quoted him and quoted a work which he placed alongside the famous Clé des Songes , by Artémidore d'Ephese, the oldest work in western dreamland, but also eastern where he is known as Artimidûrûs al Yûnânî.

If we believe the classical authors Ibn Sîrîn was much better known as a traditionalist than a oneirocritic, but by this curious reversal of history, his reputation as a traditionalist will be erased in favor of that of the oneirocritic. He will not only eclipse the other authors, but his name will also be associated with the interpretation of dreams, to the point that many books will bear it. However, we are not even sure that Ibn Sîrîn wrote a book. This is why most current Arabic editions bear the mention mansûb lî Ibn Sîrîn , attributed to Ibn Sîrîn.
