Theme: Pillars of FAITH

Description: Islamic beliefs (al-'aqâ'id al-islâmiyya) are the foundations and foundations on which Islam, its practices and laws are based. The elements of dogma are the indispensable ramparts to protect the believer's faith from the dangers of doubt and bewilderment. There are various kinds of deviations in the thinking and attitudes of believers, the main causes of which are misunderstanding of the basic principles of Islam and ignorance of the elements of the faith. Only a correct knowledge of the fundamental principles, which one must believe and adhere to, makes it possible to understand what follows from them as religious prescriptions. It is from this moment that one acquires the capacity and the aptitude to answer all the questions, which are precisely at the origin of the prophetic missions. To understand the enormous importance of this science, it suffices to know that all the questions it deals with are those allowing man to judge whether he is a believer or an unbeliever. The subjects dealt with by this science are: 1/ The Entity of God (Exalted) in order to know everything that we must obligatorily attribute to Him, what we must exempt Him from and what is permitted to be attributed to Him. 2/ The Messengers in order to know what must be attributed to them, what cannot be attributed to them and what can be said about them. 3/ The things of the unknown: these are those truths and knowledge which cannot be reached, known and believed except by way of the Koran or the Sunnah. These are for example the Angels, the Last Day, Paradise, Hell. Drawing on his experience as a lecturer, Hassan Ayyoub presents here an introduction to this science. The various themes are presented in a simplified but complete manner so that the ordinary reader finds no difficulty in assimilating them. He argues his reflections by referring to the authentic sources which are the Holy Koran and the Sunna of the prophet Mohammad, explicit texts which do not suppose any ambiguity. The author also tackles subjects such as the Koranic miracle and its defiant aspect, spiritualism, the beliefs and attitudes that oppose monotheism, the study of certain sects and dissidences with a brief presentation of their history and their principles. This work does not pretend to exhaust the subject, but it presents in a simplified and comprehensible way by all, the bases on which rests the Moslem faith.
