The Asfahaniyya according to Ibn Taymiyya: After the generation of the companions of the Prophet, Muslims were divided as to how to understand the religion of Islam. On the one hand, there are the partisans transmitted traditionally from generation to generation, the traditionalist theologians and on the other, there are the partisans of a teaching where the religion is based on the religious texts.

The Asfahaniyya according to Ibn Taymiyya:
When the foundations of Islam are, for some theologians, based on a partially or totally rationalist teaching and for others, they are based on a traditionalist teaching, whose references are the Koran and the sunnah and the consensus of pious predecessors , the difference sometimes turns out to be obvious and categorical.
The work that we are presenting illustrates the meeting of two teachings. One represented by the speculative theologian al-Asfahânî (616/688 h), author of this treatise on the pillars of faith and the other by the traditionalist theologian Ibn Taymiyya (661/728 h), author of the commentary on the treatise .
This book is divided into several parts, as follows:
- Divine uniqueness.
- Divine unity (non-composition).
- Science and divine power.
- The divine life.
- The divine will.
- The divine word.
- Hearing and divine sight.
- The prophetic mission.
- The grave and the resurrection.
- Arabic text of the Asfahâniyya.
