Description: The Risala is not a treaty of law in the sense that we understand it, that is to say a work where the author exercises his personal inductive or deductive reasoning. What the author recorded there is a set of doctrines in conformity with the Sunna of the Prophet and his companions and which he held, through the channel of duly endorsed guarantors, of Sahnun, Ibn al Qasim and Malik himself. It is a statement of the obligations of Religion, containing the rudiments of jurisprudence (acts of obedience) as well as those of dogma (Acts of faith).
