Divine Revelation is the common point between all the Messengers of Allah sent to Earth. Their mission was all the same: to invite their people to devote an exclusive worship to God the Unique, without associating anything with Him, an invitation to a pure monotheism, exempt from any form of polytheism.
The dogma they taught was identical, only differing the worship precepts that they were ordered to observe and transmit to their people as well as the laws that governed all areas of their lives.
Then Allah sent to humanity the seal of the Messengers, Muhammad (SWS) whose message is universal. The revelation he received completes the previous relationships and the Book that was revealed, the Qur'an, not only confirms but also abrogates the previous heavenly Books.
The Muslim has all the more the duty to observe the Koran and to confront the tradition (Sunna) of the Prophet Muhammad (SWS) that he recognizes and attests that he is the Messenger.
However, because of the influence of Greek philosophy in particular, "Islamic" currents of thought have emerged which have moved away from the Sunnah and the Prophet (SWS) and the voice of the pious Elders and have innovated the speculative theology (kalam) that Ibn Taymiyya has so refuted in his writings.
