What-is-bid'a? by Moncef Zenati, Haven of Knowledge

“Bid'a” is one of those terms that is often used but rarely defined. The lack of clarity of this term has led to misuse and misunderstanding. We have introduced into this term what does not belong to it, just as we have imputed to the Sunna what does not belong to it.

These excesses are the work of enthusiastic and sincere young people who strive to stick faithfully to the Sunnah and to defend the Sunnah by preserving it by purifying it of all innovation, but who misunderstand the religion, not possessing enough knowledge and objectivity to be free from error and deviation in understanding.

This book sheds the necessary light to understand the notion of religious innovation as it is necessary.
