With several million souls, the Muslim community is the second largest religion in France. Young and dynamic, it is gradually finding its place in a changing country.

France, long the eldest daughter of the Church, is a country whose population is diversifying. It is both an opportunity, a progress and a challenge.

Far from being homogeneous, this community is looking for itself. The stakes of a peaceful and contributive Muslim presence are numerous; it is to try to answer it that this essay was born.

Through seven chapters which are as many challenges to take up, it draws up the contours of a path capable of conveying an authentic Muslim discourse. From education to Islamophobia, from the dangers of conspiracy theses to political participation, it takes stock of ten years of commitment within the Islamic landscape of France and proposes a roadmap to rise to the challenges that the author considers to be priorities for the future of his community and more broadly of his country. In this sense, this contribution is intended as much an essay that offers a grid of understanding as a support for mobilization.

Addressed primarily to the Muslim public, this book can also help non-Muslims discover the nature of the debates that punctuate the daily life of some of their fellow citizens.

Nabil Ennasri is an essayist. A graduate of the Institute of Political Studies in Aix en Provence, he studied Islamic sciences at the European Faculty of Islamic Studies in Chateau-Chinon. He is a well-known actor who has been involved for several years in the Muslim associative fabric.
