Imam profession, by Tareq Oubrou, Cédric Baylocq-Sassoubre, Michaël Privot, expanded edition

At a time when we are concerned about the urgent need to bring about an "Islam of France" and to train imams who are aware of their secular environment, many eyes are turned towards the one who could be the best incarnation: the imam of Bordeaux Tareq Oubrou. Theologian and jurist, he tries to develop a "minority shari'a" which would be totally respectful of the principles and laws of the Republic.
Influential in particular with young people, he seeks to distance them from radical excesses, from the rejection of the majority society and denounces the “normative delirium”, the simplistic binarism of halâl and harâm (permitted/prohibited) as the only “spiritual” horizon. An actor in interreligious dialogue, he goes against the prejudices he detects among his followers concerning Christians, atheists and especially Jews. His reformism is not intended to be "modernist" at all costs, but essentially citizen and pragmatic, while being inspired by a Sufi spirituality.
This new edition is augmented by two new chapters devoted to Jewish-Muslim relations and issues of violence and peace in Islam.
