The Mahdi and His Advisors - A Wisdom for the End Times, by Ibn 'Arabi

The Mahdi expected at the end of time has always been the subject of particular attention in Islam: Through the centuries, he has nourished popular piety as much as the reflection of theologians. But it is, without context, the mystics and the spiritual masters who offer us the most precious presentations...As always in the work of Ibn Arabi, the most profound interpretations have their ultimate justification, in the Koran and the Hadith. In return, the exegesis of the great mystic restores to the two fundamental sources of Islam their breadth and depth.

The Mahdi and His Advisors - A Wisdom for the End Times, by Ibn 'Arabi

The Mahdi expected at the end of time has always been the subject of particular attention in Islam: Through the centuries, he has nourished popular piety as much as the reflection of theologians. But it is, without context, the mystics and spiritual masters who offer us the most valuable insights.
The spiritual role of the Mahdi, described in numerous hadiths, could not fail to inspire the one who was named al-Chaykh al akbar, the spiritual master par excellence. Indeed, Ibn Arabi (1165-1240) devotes an entire chapter of his Futuhat al-Makkiyya to the role that the Mahdi and his advisers will assume, alongside Jesus, at the end of time.
As always in the work of Ibn Arabi, the deepest interpretations have their ultimate justification, in the Koran and the Hadith. In return, the exegesis of the great mystic restores to the two fundamental sources of Islam their breadth and depth.
The inspiration of Ibn Arabi is therefore inseparable from the revealed Word and from the attitude of faqr - of spiritual poverty - which he observes in all circumstances:
"Know that I have no certainty about the duration of the Mahdi's Imamate in this world because I have not asked God about it or concerning any event concerning the created worlds (al-akwan): [ Everything I know in this field] was taught to me spontaneously by God and not following a request.
Indeed, I fear losing a part of the knowledge concerning Him (ma'rifati bihi) during the time when I would ask Him for knowledge of a world or an event. This is why I relied on God who masters everything by His Will
