Description: Imam an-Nawawi is the author of this small collection of hadiths (the Sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) He was born in 1233 AD in a Syrian village called Nawa, located south of Damascus. He acquired a great reputation as a jurist and man of science in matters of hadith. He led a simple life, and devoted himself entirely to study. He died in his native village in 1277. This selection of hadiths is generally considered to be the most popular anthology and the best introduction to the study of the "Words of the Prophet" which, together with the Qur'an, constitute the essential teachings of Islam. The Arabic text is attached for those who have some knowledge of the Arabic language. The translation was intended to be both precise and easy to read. Two people, each with a cultural background, both common and complementary, took charge of it. Finally, this work was the result of close collaboration. Abdul-Halim Khaldoun Kinany Born in Damascus in 1914. He worked for 24 years at Unesco in Paris, in the departments of higher education, external relations and training abroad. He has published books and articles, in Arabic, English and French in the fields of literature, education and Islamic culture.
