The Spiritual Teachings of the Prophet, by Tayer Chouiref

The spiritual teachings of the Prophet are often misunderstood, including within Islam. This collection is an anthology compiled from the scrupulous analysis of several thousand hadiths dispersed in the collections of al-Bukhârî, Muslim , al-Tirmidhî, Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal , etc. Informed by the commentaries of the great masters of Muslim spirituality, such as al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrî ( d . 728) , al-Junayd ( d . 911) , al-Ghazâlî ( d . 1111) , Ibn ʿArabî ( d . 1240) , al-Suyûṭî ( d . 1505) , the Emir ʿAbd al-Qâdir ( d . 1883) , the Sheikh al-ʿAlawî ( d . 1934) and many others, the teachings contained in these hadiths appear with the greatest possible clarity:

“The comments of the spiritual masters testify to their inspiration ( ilhâm ) and their long meditation on the hadiths: they thus bring to light many aspects which would remain in the shadows without their teachings.

At a time when everything and its opposite is said about Islam and its founder, it is more than ever urgent to offer the reader, whether he is a Muslim or not, the opportunity for the most direct contact possible with the one who remains a living source of wisdom and who must embody, for more than a billion people, human perfection:

“There is, in truth, in the Messenger of God an excellent model for one who desires God as well as the Hereafter, and who invokes God abundantly. " (Quran: 33, 21) "

This work, published in 2008 in two volumes, has been completely revised and expanded. It now appears in a single volume.
