Title: What is Bid'a
Author: Shaykh 'Abd Allâh Ibn As-Siddîq Al-Ghumâriyy - Translation: Corentin Pabiot
Edition: House of Ennour
Considering only the intrinsic value of the work of Shaykh Maghreb 'Abd Allâh Ibn As-Siddîq Al-Ghumâriyy on the question of the bid'a, our choice had to be made on him. And yet, if the works and the name of this Moroccan Shaykh evoke some echo in the educated public, it is almost certain that they are unknown to a large majority of French-speaking Muslims.
However, 'Abd Allâh Al-Ghumâriyy is an abundant author who has dealt with a large number of religious questions of our time considered to be sensitive, and his works turn out to be a less minor work than one might think. In fact, like the Itqan As-San'a fî Bayân Ma'na al-Bid'a, most of the Shaykh's treatises bear weighty testimony to the religious ideas of our time, and more precisely to the currents and conflicts that run through the world of Islam in this 21st century. They inform us about a new context due, among other factors, to the assertion of relatively recent lines of thought, at the same time as to what could well be the resurgence, in our time, of secular tensions. It is this work that we undertake to give the translation.
