It exposes the question of understanding the Sunnah, the in-depth study of the rules, criteria and conditions on which this understanding must be based, the explanation of the causes which have sometimes led to differences of interpretation and confusion, the origin of the crisis of understanding of the Sunnah, its factors, the analysis of the complex issues whose confusion has further aggravated this crisis and the link between this crisis of understanding and the emergence of the debate on the legal value of the sunnah. The author adopts a scientific approach, relies only on authentic or good hadîth, and refers only to renowned scholars of Islam to benefit from their knowledge. The different points discussed are illustrated with numerous examples in order to be completely clear to the reader. This book tends to restore the "happy medium", far from the distortions of those who fall into excess, from the interpretation of the ignorant.
