At the sources of Muslim revival , according to Tariq Ramadan: The stakes of this book are of primary importance: if the questions are not tied at this depth, there is a great risk of remaining in a dialogue of the deaf which will further marginalize rather one of the most active forms of contemporary thought.

At the sources of Muslim revival according to Tariq Ramadan:

The rise of Islamism in the world worries and very often prohibits analysis and distancing. However, we have to face the facts: since the 1920s, there has been a real revival of Islamic thought, which has its own logic and which has not had the sole effect of giving birth to Muslim fundamentalisms. However, this current is often seen only through the reductive prism of liberal Islam, which has integrated the main Western values into its reading grid.

To understand this evolution, which goes from al-Afghani to Hassan al-Banna, via Abduh, Rida, Nursi and Ibn Badis, there are other keys, other landmarks. It is the purpose of this work to try to retrace from the inside the trajectory, the logic, the thought and the practice of the great reformers of Muslim thought.

This book is divided into 3 main parts:

        • 1st part: At the sources of contemporary reformist thought

        - Chapter 1: Horizons of a Rebirth

        - Chapter 2: Jamal ad-Din al-Afghani. The double liberation.

        - Chapter 3: Muhammad 'Abduh. education and instruction.

        - The thought of action. First anchors.

        • Second part: Hassan Al-Banna: spirituality, social action and political claim.

        - Chapter 1: a life, a commitment.

        - Chapter 2: Understanding Islam. Universality, globality and pragmatism.

        - Chapter 3: Rebirth and liberation.

        • Third part:

        - Chapter 1: Three Trials.

        - Chapter 2: Thinking of oneself as a minority.
