This book is dedicated to the first four caliphs, as well as to 'Umar ibn 'Abd Al 'Aziz, nicknamed "the fifth rightly guided caliph". The author relies on a method that seems simple in its statement, but whose application requires very complicated and no less risky work.

This book is dedicated to the first four caliphs, as well as to 'Umar ibn 'Abd Al 'Aziz, nicknamed "the fifth rightly guided caliph". The author relies on a method that seems simple in its statement, but whose application requires very complicated and no less risky work. This method consists in determining the dominant trait that the biographer detects in the portrait of each character, then to make it the common thread in the analysis of his personality and his itinerary, based on proven historical elements.
Apart from the pedagogical interest which is likely to arouse, the work of KM Khâlid highlights the great value of the Companions, the very ones who have transmitted to us the quintessence of our religion through the centuries. It exposes us the most glorious episodes of their history. She offers us models to follow. It teaches us to distinguish between merit and infallibility. The merit of these illustrious Companions in no way implies their infallibility; just as error in no way erases their merit. It also puts the index on the origin of the malaise from which our umma suffers, by analyzing the historical elements which have contributed to its discord.
