        Tariq Ramadan

        Dr. Ekram Beshir, a physician by profession and specialist in child psychology, helped found two schools in Ottawa, the Rahma School, an Islamic and Arabic weekend school, and the Abraar School, an Islamic school in full-time. She received the Director's Citation Award from the Ottawa-Carleton district in 2000. She is very active within the Muslim community of Ottawa at the level of study circles, camps for children and youth, programs for Muslim women and marital counseling. She has traveled to various countries to present workshops on parenting. She has also written books on teaching Arabic for Muslim children living in non-Arabic speaking countries.

        Mohamed Rida Beshir, an engineer by profession at Nortel Networks of Ottawa, Canada, has over 30 years of experience in da'wa (invitation) work in North America and has held various positions within Muslim Students' Association (MSA) and ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), both at the national and local levels. He serves on the committee of Human Concern International (HCI) and is a member of the training and development department of the Muslim American Society (MAS). He regularly lectures at ISNA, the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), the MSA and the Muslim Arab Youth Association (MAYA). He also works on the development and design of training programs for Muslim communities in North and South America in the areas of time management from an Islamic perspective, strategic planning, tarbiya (education) programs ), etc. He has traveled extensively around the world to participate in various workshops and programs.

        Dr. Ekram and Mohamed Rida Beshir are members of the editorial board of The American Muslim magazine and regularly contribute articles to the Parents section. They have also written articles for Islamic Horizons and The Message magazines. Two other of their books have been translated into French: “The art of parenting in the West: an Islamic perspective” and “The guide to happy marriage in Islam”.
