Nigella seeds - Habba Sawda

Nigella seeds are tiny black seeds of a ranunculaceae with white flowers, Nigella sativa. Called habat al-baraka in Egypt, al-kamoun in Libya, al-qahta in Yemen, al-sânouj in Morocco and Nigella sativa in Latin. Also called Black Cumin, its fragrant seeds are used in particular to flavor bread. A saying of the Prophet Mohammed (SwS) affirms that the seed of Nigella "would cure everything except death".

Properties

They contain more than 100 active ingredients which make it a remedy against many ailments, its virtues are admirably listed in the famous treatise on Arab medicine by Ibn al-Qayyim. The nigella seed consists of active elements that taste good and produce a miraculous effect. It contains phosphate, iron, phosphorus, carbohydrate, essences which form the essential of its power. It contains antibiotics that can destroy any virus, microbe or bacteria, carotene with anti-cancer power, fertilizing and exciting sex hormones; It also has a power to facilitate the elimination of urine; it contains antacid enzymes, tranquilizers but also elements stimulating the development of intelligence. These are only a few virtues among others that applied research may one day discover and which could dispense with doctors and any other pharmacy, in particular its oil which contains its power.
