Autobiography of Khayreddine BARBEROUSSE: A scorned hero
Discover the exceptional story of Khayreddine Barbarossa, through his memoirs that he personally dictated to his scribe.
A true Muslim hero who rescued tens of thousands of Andalusians persecuted during the Inquisition, he raised the rank of the Ottoman navy to the first rank in the world, his name made all of 16th century Europe tremble for a long time.
A must-know story!
Considered by many to be a pirate, or even a bandit seeking only wealth and plunder of all kinds, Khayreddine Barbarossa was in reality a true hero, mujāhid and conqueror, whose story is very little known to the greatest number.
As a bulwark against the Spanish Empire and the latter's attempts to expand in Africa, he succeeded in bringing together entire Muslim countries under the Ottoman banner, helping to make the Ottoman fleet the most powerful in the world for nearly three centuries.
Khayreddīne's role did not stop there: throughout his life he never ceased to help the Moriscos of al-Andalus, tortured and exterminated under the Spanish Inquisition. He will thus save more than seventy thousand of them from certain death, transporting them to the coasts of the Maghreb. He will even consider the reconquest of the lands of al-Andalus, and will propose an expedition to America freshly discovered by the Europeans, in order to dislodge them.
His instructive story will not fail to enrich anyone who follows the journey of this illustrious character.
