The damage caused by the abusive and irresponsible use that man makes of nature and the collective depression that inhabits our society forcefully call for the reformulation of certain fundamental questions that must resound at the heart of every conscience: can man do without God? Or, rather, should we rethink the terms of a human adventure without sinking both into the trap of Western humanism and into the impasses of historical faith? Is there, in other words, an alternative to modernity which certainly promoted human rights, but which also engendered colonialism, Nazism and the society of spectacle and consumption? These are the questions that the author attempts to raise in support of the philosophy of Nietzsche who, alongside Guénon, Iqbal and Bennabi, had a profound influence on him.
