It is a story from which we can learn lessons for self-effort, patience and sincerity. It is a story that refines the nobility of character, inflames the feelings, and makes us move forward with seriousness and constancy, in order to work for the approval of Allah the Most High.

This is the story of the conversion to Islam of Salman the Persian told by Ibn 'Abbâs - may Allah be pleased with him - where he reports "Salmân al-Fârisî told me his story from his own mouth, in these terms:

“He was a Persian from Isphan, originally from a village called Jiyy, of which his father was the chief. He was his favorite, among the creatures of Allah, he loved him so well that he became the servant of the fire he kindled, and which he never allowed to be completely consumed for a single moment……. …....»
