“Monsieur Hamidullah is our master and our guide in the research and study of manuscripts on the beginnings of Islam,” wrote Louis Massignon in his former student's recommendation for recruitment to the CNRS.
This appreciation was justified by the "cooperation among intellectual work comrades", begun in 1932. State, as well as numerous articles from specialized journals, and the first editions of manuscripts brought back from Europe and thought to be lost forever.
The thesis defended in 1935 in Paris on "Documents of Muslim Diplomacy at the time of the Prophet and the Orthodox Caliphs" was translated into Arabic and republished with new pieces discovered later.
This thesis retains an exemplary value and its reissue designates Hamidullah as a model to follow for young Muslims concerned about the educational deficits of Islam in France, and wishing to remedy them.
