In this book, Cheikh Fayçal Mawlawi exposes this little-known and often misunderstood aspect of these relationships. The question arose with acuity twenty years ago with the increasing number of Muslims living in the West.

His eminence Sheikh Fayçal Mawlawi magistrate, "faqih" jurisconsult was born in 1941 in Tripoli, Lebanon. He was an adviser to the Lebanese Supreme Court. He was a notoriously famous scholar, preacher and thinker in Lebanon, in the Arab-Muslim world and in Europe. He was in France from 1980 to 1985.

He contributed to the creation of the UOIF and the European Institute of Human Sciences. He contributed to the creation of the European Fatwa Council of which he is the vice-president.

He actively contributed to spreading an enlightened understanding of Islam that links the text to the context and calls for openness to society. Sheikh Fayçal Mawlawi died on Sunday May 8, 2008.
