Biography :

A graduate in history and geography, Roger Du Pasquier is a Swiss journalist who grew up in a Protestant family and converted to Islam, to which he devoted several books.

He was close to the orientalist Jean Herbert and was influenced by the conversion to Islam of the French metaphysician René Guénon.
He was interested in the authors of the "traditionalist school" who, in the wake of the work of R. Guénon and Ananda Coomaraswamy, made the Western public discover the depth and topicality of the traditional doctrines carried by the great religions: Frithjof Schuon, Titus Burckhardt, Martin Lings and Seyyed Hossein Nasr.

R. Du Pasquier has translated several works on spirituality such as "What is Sufism" by Martin Lings, "Buddhist Lights" by Marco Pallis or even "The Way to Mecca" by the Austrian converted to Islam Muhammad Asad (Leopold Weiss).
He is also the author of several studies: "Discovery of Islam" (Seuil), "Islam between tradition and revolution" (Togui), "The awakening of Islam" (Cerf) or, in collaboration with William Austin and Vincent Mansour Monteil, "The Arab World: Tradition and Renewal" (Edita Lazarus).

In an article in a Swiss quarterly review, Le Temps Stratégique (a review which no longer exists but a large extract of which can be read on the website www.islamdefrance.fr), R. Du Pasquier set out his perception of Islam in the contemporary world and his career as an intellectual in search of absolute truth (cf. Le Temps Stratégique, n° 22, autumn 1987).
