“Dinet was not a simple Muslim, he was a Muslim above many other Muslims. He cheated neither with God nor with men. He was a Muslim because he respected others. had embraced Islam after study, investigation and search for conclusive evidence. His Islam, he had not inherited it from his fathers. That is why, if he was a Muslim, he did not content himself with being one commonly On the contrary, he was an active Muslim, by his pen and his tongue, in the defense of God and of Islam. He was not, moreover, one of those Muslims who pervert their faith by blameworthy innovations (bida'), those fables and nonsense that have been associated with Islam out of ignorance. Finally, he was a Muslim who had risen above the differences between doctrinal schools (madhahib) and religious brotherhoods (turuq) through which it was sought to undo the strong bond of Islam.
