About the author: Abû 'Abd Allâh Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Qurtubî – Died in 671AH (1273)

A native of Qurtubah (Cordoba) before having to take the road to exile and end his life in Egypt, al-Qurtubî was one of the most renowned Malikite scholars in history. Jurist, exegete and muhaddîth of great talent, known for his irreproachable personal ethics, he is particularly famous for his eminent tafsîr, one of the most voluminous, complete and popular Koranic commentaries.
