Good intention, sincerity and truthfulness - The three key factors in accepting acts with God , by Imam Al-Ghazâlî , Revivification of Good Practices of the Muslim Religion Collection, Translation of the book: " ( Kitâb n -niyya wa l-ikhlas wa s-sidq » (كتاب النية و الإخلاص و الصدق )
This work on the intention is essential because everything begins with the intention ( niyyâ ) and the acts are not worth the intention. This notion must therefore be correctly understood, because it is what determines all the acts in the life of Man.
Any act whatsoever, unless it is unconscious or voluntary, is the consequence of an intention, hence the interest of the believer in purifying it. Science must precede action. And the action is validated according to the intention of its author. It is finally her that God judges, more than the act itself. And this is where sincerity and truthfulness come in, which are, according to Imam al- Ghazali , the purifying elements of intention.
Know that God rewards the good intention, even if the act could not be brought to an end.
