Abundant are the media that constantly bombard us with images playing on our emotions and paralyzing our thinking. They disseminate their fallacious and infernal speeches, like a dragon that spits fire and smoke. To this obscuring smoke is added that of worldly activities, work and the consumerist way of life in which we are carried away.

Therefore, we are constantly defiled by these emanations. We succeed - and Allah be praised! - to partially purify ourselves of it, thanks to ablutions, prescribed and supererogatory prayers, invocation of Allah, dhikr, fasting, almsgiving, pilgrimage and other acts of worship. Only, a large part of these fumes penetrates to the depths of our hearts and shakes our sincerity, our love of Allah, our devotion to Him , our trust in Him, our humility, as well as other noble virtues. At the end of this smoky tunnel, there is a light that awakens our conscience and makes us wonder why we are still there when the Companions of the Prophet and their pious successors had illuminated the world with their faith and their works despite the few material means at their disposal?

The secret of their success lay in their dedication to educating and pruning their souls, and initiating their hearts into superficiality. This is what Dr. Muhammad Ibn Mûsâ Ash-Sharif tries to highlight in this book in a simple but eloquent style, accessible but profound by emphasizing the main worships of the heart such as ikhlas, repentance, tawakkul, fear of Allah and hope in Him .
