The wives of the prophet (saws), by Muhammad ibn Al-hassan ibn Zabalah, Ibn Badis Éditions

One of the eminent historians of Medina of the first, and best, generations of Islam, Muḥammad ibn Al-Ḥasan ibn Zabālah (d. 199 H.) was one of the first authors to devote an entire work to the wives of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, the Mothers of the believers, concerning whom Allah, Exalted be He, says: “O Prophet! We have made lawful for you your wives to whom you have given their dowry...” [Al-Aḥzāb: 50]. His Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

He, Exalted be He, also says about them: “…and his wives are their mothers…” [Al-Aḥzāb: 6] This is another of their virtues which Allah bestowed on them, namely to be the Mothers of believers. Moreover, He, exalted be He, also describes them in the Quran, saying, “O wives of the Prophet! You are not comparable to any other woman...” [Al-Aḥzāb: 32], that is, better than all other women.

We offer the French-speaking reader the only extract that has come down to us from the work of Ibn Zabālah, in which he dedicated a chapter to each of the Mothers of the Believers, mentioning some of their specific merits.
