Muhammad, Life of the Prophet: The Spiritual and Contemporary Teachings, by Tariq Ramadan

The Prophet occupies a unique place in the consciousness and life of Muslims. He is the one who received and transmitted the Koran, the revealed Text which recalls the eminent place of the Messenger of God, at the same time announcer , model and guide. Muhammad is not, however, a mediator: he was only a man, who acted and transformed the world in the light of the revelations and inspirations that came to him from the One, His Educator. This assumed, elected and inspired humanity makes him a model for the faithful of today.

Humanity and exemplarity: these are the two dimensions through which Tariq Ramadan restores the founding figure of Islam. Based with scientific rigor on the most reliable and recognized sources by Muslim scholars and traditionists , he is interested not only in the stages and actions of the life of the Prophet, but he accompanies his story with critical reflections and meditative on the deep meaning of this life. Because it endeavors to demonstrate the timeliness of the Prophet's words, this book presents itself as a privileged introduction to Islam.

The journey of the Messenger refers to the first and eternal questions: his life is an invitation to humility, fraternity, respect, justice and peace. But also, and above all, to love. This is why the breath of Revelation brings a useful lesson to all men, whether or not they are Muslims .
