God has chosen men among His creatures to be His Messengers, these are the Prophets. He further elected Muhammad - may Allah bless him and grant him peace - and made him the Seal of the Prophets and elected men and women to be his Companions, who supported him from during his lifetime and carried on his tradition after his death.

These Companions of the Prophet - peace and salvation of Allah be upon him - occupy a special place in Sunni dogma. But very soon after the death of the Prophet -may the peace and salvation of Allah be upon him-, sects were born, which denigrated his Companions and/or the members of his family.

The present work is an outline of the correct belief in the Companions, which represents the middle ground and the way of salvation between the heretical beliefs of the various sects.
