The most illustrious companions are: Abû Bakr as-Siddiq, 'Umar Ibn al-Khattâb, 'Uthmân Ibn 'Affân, 'Alî Ibn Abî Tâleb, Talha Ibn 'Ubaydellah, Zubayr Ibn al-'Awwâm, 'Abde ar-Rahman Ibn 'Awf, Sa'd Ibn Abî Waqqâs, Abû 'Ubayda Ibn al-jarrâh, Sa'î Ibn Zayd, commonly called "al-'Ashara al-mubachirin", the ten companions among those to whom the Prophet made the good announcement of a place in paradise.
