Dr Youssouf Al-Quaradâwî brings out here what makes the specificity of the Islamic conception of faith. He first looks at the notion of faith, to show that faith in God is not only theoretical but that it involves the totality of being and that it is accompanied by submission or practice.
He then looks at the content of the Muslim faith and the way in which Islam has purified the notion of monoteism by insisting on the notions of the uniqueness and perfection of God. Faith in prophecy is the natural consequence of this faith in God, since it is through the prophets that God, in his mercy, guides human beings. Faith in the Beyond, on the other hand, gives meaning and direction to our lives.
The strength of the Muslim is therefore to possess a clear, balanced faith, solidly based on evidence; a faith perfectly in accord with human nature.
