Mohamed Ali: World Champion, Written by: Jonah Winter, Illustrated by: François Roca
MOHAMED ALI was born on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky, United States as Cassius Marcellus Clay Junior. After winning a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics, he established himself in the world of boxing and as a spokesperson for African-Americans.
This album does not retrace the whole life of Mohamed Ali, but focuses on the boxer's key moments and fights. In the book are cited his most significant fights of the time (from December 1908 to October 1974).
In 2007, when this book was being prepared, Muhammad Ali was living in Scottdales, Arizona (USA). Although his words and gestures have been slowed down by Parkinson's disease (consequences of beatings in the ring), he still has a sparkle in his eyes, indicative of an inner glow that has fueled an incredible boxing career, and an amazing life.
