From atheism to Islam, Faouzi Tarkhani , a child from Sarcelles who was blinded by a pistol bullet, recounts his spiritual quest. From his open atheism to his desire one day to convert to Christianity, he finds in his scientific investigations divine signs in the universe, and ends up embracing Islam.
After an experience in music, he turns to salafiya , the original Islam, wears a beard and long clothes and asks only to live his faith in peace and indifference.

The day the twin towers are completely destroyed by two hijacked planes, Faouzi Tarkhani 's life changes. In the eyes of his fellow citizens, he is no longer a peaceful Muslim, but a presumed Islamist. His beard and his djellaba condemn him, even if he strongly denounces the attacks.
