THE ADOREMENT OF THE STUDENT IN RELIGIOUS SCIENCE ..

Certainly, the book "The Dress of the Student of Science" is among the best works written on the subject of behavior in the search for science. Allah has granted it acceptance, which distinguishes it from other summarized works on this important subject. Because of its importance, many scholars have explained it, and its most famous explanation is that of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Şalih al-'Uthaymin (d. 1421 H.), may Allah have mercy on him, who says in his introduction to this epistle:

“If the student of science does not adorn himself with good behavior, his research into science will be of no interest to him. On the contrary, it is obligatory for the person, each time he learns something among the virtues or the adorations, to perform it. If she does not do this, she will be equivalent to the ignorant, and the ignorant will even be in a better situation than her, because she will have left the good voluntarily, unlike the ignorant, and because he happens to the ignorant to profit when he learns, contrary to the one who learns and does not profit from it. This is why I encourage myself and you to adorn myself with virtuous behavior, to be patient, to endure, to forgive and to be benevolent, as much as possible. All this is without forgetting the greatest advice, which is the advice of the fear of Allah, Mighty and High be He. The author, may Allah have mercy on him, says (pp. 8-9): “So accept this adornment, which contains a compendium of (noble) behaviors, as well as the things that contradict and nullify them. Thus, when the individual neglects one of these behaviors, he is actually performing one of the cancellations that oppose this neglected behavior). Some people practice most of these behaviors, while others neglect many of them.”
